MAD HATTERS HIRE FIRST COACH

(DANBURY, CT) - When the Danbury Mad Hatters professional hockey team takes the ice for its inaugural season this fall, there will be a familiar face behind the bench calling the shots.  MAD HATTERS STRONG
THIRD PERIOD TOPPLES
ROCKHOPPERS

The Danbury Mad Hatters opened up for three consecutive third period goals to bring down the Rockhoppers 4-3 in front of 902 at the Danbury Ice Arena on Sunday evening. It was the Mad Hatters first win of 2009.

The Mad Hatters opened up the scoring once again when Obi Aduba sent home his eighth goal of the season making it 1-0 Mad Hatters. The Rockhoppers would tie it at 1-1 after 2 periods, but that's when the Mad Hatters exploded for 3 consecutive goals in just under 10 minutes. Mykul Haun, Obi Aduba, again, and Igor Karlov each scored in the third period to put the Mad Hatters up 4-1. The Rockhoppers made an effort to come back by scoring twice, but the Mad Hatters defense and goaltending stood up to that challenge to take their 3 win of the season over the Rockhoppers.

The win puts the Mad Hatters back at .500, and, most importantly, 3 points out of second place.

Derek MacIntyre stopped 21 of 24 shots in his second consecutive win over the Rockhoppers, and the win also puts him at 7-5-1 on the year. His .898 save percentage puts him second in the EPHL in that category, and with one more victory he will be tied for second in the EPHL in overall victories.

The Mad Hatters will be back at the DIA this Friday night at 7:30 pm to take on their arch-rivals, the first place Brooklyn Aces.

The Mad Hatters returned to the win column on Tuesday night by defeating the Jersey Rockhoppers 4-2 in front of 923 at Codey Arena in West Orange, NJ.

For the third consecutive game, Igor Karlov got the scoring started when he scored his 9th goal of the season. After Jersey tied it as 1-1, Alex Redmond lit the lamp on his 4th goal of the year to make it 2-1. Jersey would tie at 2-2 in the third, but
